    Officials investigate the scene of a fatal collision on a Metra line in Des Plaines.

    A Metra train fatally struck a Clarendon Hills man Tuesday morning in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

    The eastbound Metra express train struck 56-year-old John Rogowski about 7:30 a.m., according to Des Plaines police.

    Rogowski, of the 5600 block of Forest Hill Drive in Clarendon Hills, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

    The No. 618 Union Pacific / Northwest train bound for Chicago struck the pedestrian near the station in Des Plaines and trains were stopped for more than two hours, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.

    Some trains were delayed up to 108 minutes, and normal service did not fully resume until about noon, Metra said.

    An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

    Des Plaines police were investigating.
