A Lincolnwood man has been charged in a fatal crash that closed the Edens Expressway for six hours on Sunday, police said.

Jose L. Colon, 21, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatality and first-degree murder, police said.

Illinois State Police said Colon was driving south on I-94 in a white Audi when his vehicle rear-ended a Chevy truck. The crash happened just before 2 a.m. near Touhy Avenue in Skokie

The impact caused both vehicles to lose control, veer off the road and land in the ditch, police said.

The driver of the Chevy, identified as Samee Ranginwala of Mankato, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Debris was scattered blocks away, and the vehicles were unrecognizable.

Lanes were reopened at 7:30 a.m., police said.
