Illinois State Police are investigating a deadly Monday night crash between a car and gas tanker on I-88 near Route 47.

Police say the driver of the car stopped on Route 47 at about 8:14 p.m. without its lights on when another vehicle slammed into the back of the car, causing it to spin out. A truck tractor tanker then struck the vehicle, rolled over and began leaking fuel, police said.

The car's driver was killed in the crash. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

All lanes were closed on I-88 in both directions at Shrader and Watson roads as a precaution as the crash was investigated and fuel was cleaned.
