THE DRIVERS CAUSED THE PROBLEMS.....NOT THE SNOW.  In the 'burbs all the traffic delays were caused by the idiots that blocked the intersections during traffic control changes. When the lights changed to green, cars couldn't moved. It all just swelled out to the next intersection. -- Matt Rocha

I moved to Chicago from New York 2 years ago and I am still amazed at the gross incompetence of the government at every level. Removing snow, rebuilding roads and protecting our people are core responsibilities of our government and they do it poorly! Given the extent of corruption we have it is no wonder basic services like removing snow are so poor. The citizens of Illinois voted these incompetent thieves into office so what else do you expect!  --- Matt from Lincoln Park

I know many people had a longer commute than me but I wanted to share mine.  I work in Deerfield and my daughter goes to school in Lincolnshire.  It generally takes me 8-10 minutes to get there to pick her up.  Last night it took me over 2 hours.  She has to be picked up by 6:00 PM and I got there at 6:45.  I felt like a horrible parent as she was only one of 4 kids left when I got there.  Then we got some dinner at McDonalds and started the trip home.  I live in Schaumburg and it took another hour and a half to get home.  So all in all I left work at 4:30 yesterday afternoon and got home at 9:00 last night.  I felt like I was living back in Kentucky (I lived there for 2 years about 6 years ago) where they don't plow streets - just throw salt and wait for it to melt!

Tomorrow I will be leaving the office as soon as the weather starts!  Another commute like that is not doable this week!  Have a great day!  -- J. Calussen

Tuesday's commute was horrible. I work in Northbrook, and what usually takes at most an hour took 3 1/2. The city should be ashamed were all familiar with the weather we get and the snow removal should be a priority for safe roads.  ---  Marcus l.

Sorry other people but my thoughts from yesterday are.......... Lots of snow + new truck tires ( early Christmas gift from husband! ) + 4 wheel drive = a very excited Carol! Felt like my tires were chewing up route 30 through will county!

But, I won't be liking this ice coming up! ---- Carol Kopca

It took me 3 hours to drive home which is 16 miles from my office. I left at 3:00 and I could not. Imagine leaving any later. I was frustrated but arrived safely.   ---   E. R. - Sleepy Hollow

I work in an office in Carol steam. Now, my coworkers don't give me much simpathy but my drive to and from work is about a mile from where I live, which usually takes 5 min. However, yesterday it took over an hour! Wow!

My name is Linda Marshall.  My husband's parets home is only 20 minutes from where he works in Oakbrook Terrace.  It took him 2 hrs just to get to their home.   Our home is in Montgomery, Ill.  If he tried to get home, it would probably have taken him 4 to 5 hrs.  We have 2 children asking where is dad- One is Autistic (8yr  old). and one is A.D.H.D. (12yr. old.

Last night was traffic jam was a complete NIGHTMARE!!! Because I had a meeting at work that I could not get out of, I left Naperville at 3pm in order to pick up my son from daycare by 5:15pm.  A normally 40 minute drive took me over 5 1/2 hours!!  My daycare charges $1.00 for every minute I'm late.  I didn't pick him up until 8:15pm!  I now owe my daycare provider roughly $180!!

We live in Hoffman Estates and my husband, Gary, works in Pleasant Prairie, WI. He had a new high for commute time. It usually rakes 60-90 minutes for him to get home. Yesterday he punched out at 2:30 in the afternoon, he did not pull into the driveway until 9:14 - a 6 hr. 44 minute commute. He certainly did not want to get back into the car this morning, but he's on his way!  ---  Connie

I have a normal 15 minute drive but yesterday it took me just over 2 hours to get home. the roads up here in lake county suck they dont even come out until the snow is done comming down. what good does that do for us drivers trying to get home. --- del

It took us 6  1/2 hours to go from ALLSTATE in Northbrook via are GREAT interstate TOLLWAY via 355 to New Lenox. There should be a rebate of tolls for yesterday. Bosses would not let people go home early Normal travel is 1.25 hrs.

my friend and i had front row tickets to celine dion...and we missed the concert due to the traffic......we spent 3 hours just to get downtown ... this is the 2nd time we had tickets...the first time was election night and celine cancelled.

I left Northfield at 3:00 in the afternoon in an attempt to get ahead of the traffic.

O.K., I got home in Aurora at 10:30 last night.

If my math works that's 7 1/2 hours to go 55 miles - 8 miles an hour.

It was like a carnival with cars spinning around.  Wow what a trip...

    Thanks...
