Crash happened about 12:35 p.m. near the intersection of 79th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue

Eleven people were hurt when a CTA bus collided with a semi on the South Side Friday afternoon.

The crash happened about 12:35 p.m. near the intersection of 79th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

A CTA Route 79 bus and the semi were both heading north on Cottage Grove when the semi made a right turn in front of the bus and the vehicles collided, according to CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis.

Four adult passengers on the bus were taken to hospitals in good condition and six others in fair condition with minor neck and back pain, according to the CTA and Fire Media Affairs spokesman Juan Hernandez. Their genders and ages were unknown.

The bus driver was also taken to a hospital to be treated for stress, Lukidis said.

The bus sustained minor damage, and normal service had resumed by 1:30 p.m., she said.
