A Taste of Milan on Oak Street

Milan fashion house opens Chicago store

A major Italian luxury brand has made its way to the heart of Chicago's upscale shopping district.

Milan fashion house Piazza Sempione (34 East Oak Street) recently opened a 2100 square foot boutique.

Despite the struggling economy, the Italian-based company is moving full steam ahead with U.S. expansion plans. The Chicago store is the third in the country, following debuts in New Jersey and Las Vegas.

CEO Enrico Morra says the sales figures from the first two weeks have "already significantly exceeded our forecasts, a positive indicator that Chicago will quickly become one of the most significant markets for the brand in the country."

The womens clothing in the brand's collection features understated styles with unique fabrics, and the same attention to detail has been paid to the design of the the Chicago store.

Piazza Sempione's grand opening is scheduled for later this month.
