Target Targets State Street Store

Store would occupy former Carson Prairie Scott building

A rumored State Street Target store appears to be closer to coming to fruition.

Crain's reports that the retail discount behemoth is close to signing a lease for a full-service store in the former Carson Pirie Scott building at 1 S. State St.

The store's opening is targeted for fall 2012 and would occupy about 120,000 to 140,000 square feet, sources told Crain's.

Chicago Loop Alliance executive director Ty Tabing told Crain's the store would be a "welcome addition," especially because of the included grocery store.
