The Secret's Out: Wicker Park Shines

Wicker Park is one of the most eclectic and trendy neighborhoods in Chicago, a haven for artists and alternative culture. The neighborhood borders the Chicago River to the east, Bloomingdale on the north, Division to the south and Western Avenue to the west. It's known for its numerous commercial and entertainment venues frequented by the area's foodies, fashionistas, hipsters, families and young urbanites. "One of the biggest things about Wicker Park is that you've got the huge sidewalks, so all the restaurants, cafes and bakeries have a huge expansive patio," @Properties real estate consultant Rob Sikkel said. Living in this neighborhood doesn't come cheap, according to Sikkel. He said the entry point is about $350,000, and more than $800,000 for single-family homes. Famous movies inspired by Wicker Park include a 2004 flick called "Wicker Park" -- although it was actually filmed in Montreal. High Fidelity was shot in the neighborhood and starred Evanston's John Cusack.
