Spring is all about fresh beginnings. You're no doubt familiar with the concept of spring cleaning, and now is also a good time to give your home a fresh coat of paint and add some punchy new decor elements. Pantone, the color authority for design professionals, has unveiled its picks for the hot hues for Spring 2009. For ways to incorporate these shades in your home, interior designer Michelle Rohrer-Lauer of Grayslake-based Michelle's Interiors has some tips of the trade.

Rohrer-Lauer suggests that pops of color in your overall home decor are always welcome additions. Bold statements like wall color and small items like accessories in bright spring colors can act as mood elevators throughout the year. She states that the new color trends, as defined by Pantone, are uplifting yet elegant.

So what are these scorching new shades? The first hue is Lucite Green, a serene shade perfect for bathrooms and bedrooms. The color also complements live plants and other natural elements in any room. Also hot for spring is Fuschia Red, best used as a bold accent by a more daring homeowner. Palace Blue offers a regal feel without going too dark. Perfect for a kitchen or bathroom, this hue of blue is tranquil without being too pale. The final color for spring is something called Super Lemon, a sunny shade that injects instant happiness in a space. Rohrer-Lauer suggests including this exciting hue in the kitchen, dining room and living spaces in the form of vases, accent pillows and tablecloths.
