So where can the best sandwiches in America be found?

Chicago is famous for its rib-sticking food, so it's no surprise that some area eateries showed up on Slashfood.com's list of the top sandwiches in America.

It wasn't exactly a scientific survey. The site asked readers to submit their favorites, and listed all of the responses. They don't even appear to be listed in order of greatness. But out of 54 submissions, three Chicago sandwiches made the list.

  • Cemita sandwich at Cemitas Pueblo (3619 W. North Ave.)
  • Italian Beef, wet, at Al's Beef
  • Patty Melt at Mic Duck's Drive-In (3401 W. Belmont Ave.)
