At most schools, you'd get in trouble for socializing, listening to music or drinking beer in class, but a North Side bar is turning the concept of class on its head -- and by head, we mean beer foam.

On January 17 from 1 to 4 p.m., Sheffield's will host its Beer School Beer Festival 2009.

Certainly you've heard of the Taste of Chicago. Well, this is sort of like the "Taste of Beer." Beer school is for novices and connoisseurs alike to sample some of the rarest beers the U.S. has to offer.

Sheffield's will serve over 15 different rare and limited edition brews, most of which are not available to any other Chicago bars.

A $40 cover charge gets you 12 drinks tickets which can be used for any 14 drafts and four cask-condition ales.

Representatives from more than 12 of the breweries will be on hand to answer questions about their beer.

Don't wait until the last minute to start this assignment because only 100 tickets are available.

For questions and ticket information call (773) 281-4989.
