Luck o' the Irish in Lincolnwood

L. Woods Tap & Pine Lodge morphs into McGowan's for St. Patrick's Day

A proper St. Patrick's party is shaping up in near north suburban Lincolnwood. L. Woods Tap & Pine Lodge is putting the final touches on its upcoming transformation into McGowan's, just in time for the popular neighborhood restaurant's 6th annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration from March 12 through March 17.

The familiar L. Woods sign will be covered over with the McGowan's moniker, which comes from L. Woods' president Dan McGowan, but the change isn't merely in name only. Inside, L. Woods will be imbued with the Irish spirit, from nightly live music and a participatory children's parade to menu and drink specials, such as Celtic classics like corned beef and cabbage, Guinness beef stew, grilled Irish salmon and $1 Schlitz beer (we're not so sure about the Irish credentials of that last one, but we're willing to play along). The festivities kick off on Thursday, March 12 with an Irish folk music performance by the Dooley Brothers from 6-9PM. The Dooleys will also play on St. Patrick's Eve, Monday, March 16 from 6-9PM.

The celebration centers around the L. Woods Kids Gang St. Patrick's Day Parade and Party starting at 10AM on Saturday, March 14. More than 250 people are expected to participate in the parade, which this year will be led by 30 members of the award-winning South Shore Drill Team and Performance Arts Ensemble. McGowan's (we mean L. Woods) will then be open for lunch and will host kids' activities throughout the day, including crafts, a juggler and a stilt walker.
