It Will Be Good to Be Burger Queen

Carol Wallack to compete in Burger Bash

A Chicago chef will is confident her prized hamburger will beat 23 others in a high-profile burger battle next month.

Carol Wallack, chef and owner of Chicago's sola restaurant (3868 N. Lincoln Ave.) is heading to Miami next month for The Amstel Light Burger Bash, hosted by TV food personality Rachael Ray.

The event will take place at the 2009 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival February 19-22, one of the top culinary and wine events in the country.

Wallack will be entering her signature Wagyu burger, which she says has taken her years to perfect. The burger includes Allen Brother's Wagyu Beef, cambazola cheese, house-made bacon, caramelized onions and arugula all squeezed between a soft pretzel roll.

"We are going to win," a confident Wallack says. "We want to show them that a little independent restaurant in a Chicago neighborhood can throw it down with the big boys."

Wallack faces stiff competition from her fellow Chicago chefs alone, with Frontera Grill's Rick Bayless also scheduled to compete.
