How Sweet It Is

Carol's Cookies

Oatmeal, coconut, chocolate and more. Pure bliss in cookie form.

Just when we thought life couldn't get any sweeter, Carol's Cookies -- the creator of those irresistably thick, chewy, half-pound morsel-packed pieces of heaven -- had to again whet our appetites for the sweet life.

Last month, Carol's held a contest to find a new addition to their their already successful lineup of 11 flavors.

One cookie-lover whipped up the winning recipe, beating out nearly 400 total contestants, and schmoozing over a panel of judges that included Carol's Cookies owner Carol Goldman, Katrina Markoff (Vosges Haut-Chocolat), Marc Schulman (Eli’s Cheesecake), Alpana Singh (Director of Wine and Spirits for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises; Check Please!), Bryant Keil (Potbelly’s Sandwich Works) and R.J. Melman (Co-owner of HUB 51).

It's appropriately named "The Kitchen Sink Cookie," for its ingredient-packed list of Oatmeal, Coconut, Milk Chocolate Chunks, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, Almonds and Pecans. But so far, we've only been able to drool at the thought of sinking our teeth into one of these monsters because they haven't yet been available for sale.

Well finally, the wait is over, and it couldn't be better timing. Just in time for National Cookie Month, the new addition will be available via the Carol's Cookies Web site on Oct. 1. That means they are available this week, for all of you calender-challenged individuals.

So mark your planner -- er, Google calender, or whatever personal device keeps your life organized, and get on the ordering bandwagon.

Then relish in that one-of-a-kind sugar high once your order arrives.
