Our drives home on Tuesday night took three times as long as they normally do. And they normally take long enough as it is. Our hands are dry and chapped, and our lips are miserably cracked. Life is looking pretty bleak right about now, and the sad thing is, it's only December. How are we possibly going to make it through the 31 arduous days of January?

And, as an added bonus, Carnivale's expert mixologist Victor Beheza will conduct a hands-on ''Mojito 101'' class on Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Learn how to master the muddled mint in two of Carnivale's signature cocktail recipes – one for a classic mojito, and one for a raspberry variety. Nibble on appetizers by Chef Mark Mendez while you learn. $25 per person; call in advance to register.
