Bring on the Meatloaf Bakery

Comfort food spot opens in Lincoln Park

In times of economic and political uncertainty, we find ourselves wanting to cling to what is familiar and comfortable.  And what could be more comforting than, well, meatloaf?  Just in time for the holidays, the Meatloaf Bakery has opened its doors, ready to provide some stick-to-your-ribs comfort food like Ma used to make.  Eight different recipes are available in bite-size ''loafies'' ($2), cupcakes ($7.95-9.95) or larger loafs/pies/cakes ($34.95-43.95) The ''Loaf-a-Roma'' is one recipe, a delectable mess of mozzarella cheese, sun dried tomatoes, fresh basil and red wine mixed in a beef and Italian sausage loaf. It's topped with angel hair pasta and marinara sauce. ''The Mother Loaf'' is another delectable option, a hearty concoction of beef, veal, pork mixed with onions, ketchup, seasonings and topped with Yukon mashed potatoes.  You can also get the potatoes as a side, along with sides of mac-n-cheese, greens, veggies and desserts. No matter what you order at this primarily take-out place (there are just a handful of seats), we can guarantee you'll feel all warm and cozy inside after digging in.
