Billy Goat Tavern Set To Close

Billy Goat Tavern closes its doors in Loop after 30 years

Chicago's Loop will say goodbye to "cheeps" and “cheezborgers” at the end of the month.

The Billy Goat Tavern at 309 W. Washington Blvd. is closing its doors May 1 after 30 years, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The restaurant plans to move after a rent hike. A Mediterranean restaurant will take its place, the Sun-Times reports.

The lower-level 430 N. Michigan Ave. location most known from the popular "Saturday Night Live" sketch will remain open. Billy Goat has seven locations in the Chicago area and one in Washington, D.C.
