Big Star Premieres Dust Up Music Festival

Live bands, DJs to perform in parking lot September 8

One of the most popular spots in the city for tacos, cheap beer and whiskey shots is ready to make an imprint in the city's music scene.

Big Star restaurant has teamed up with Metro to create The Dustup -- a day-long music festival on September 8.

It all goes down in the Wicker Park restaurant's parking lots, and kicks off at noon with DJs and a record fair featuring booths from Numero Group, Bloodshot and Kranky Records.

The live music kicks off at 4 p.m. with performances by Disappears, R&B singer Andre Williams & The Goldstars, psych-rock fivesome Old Baby, folk band Quarter Mile Thunder and Chicago Americana-blues group The Jeff Walroth Band.

Big Star plans to make the festival an annual way to send off the summer.
