Celebrate Chicago's 52nd annual Venetian Night, which is set for Saturday, July 25, in style this year with a gourmet Italian picnic basket from Osteria Via Stato, the authentic Italian trattoria in River North. The event is modeled after the famous boat parades of Venice, Italy, so it's only fitting to include an Italian feast in your plans.
Chef David DiGregorio will offer picnic boxes for any size group priced at $15 per person. The feast features marinated olives, a choice of sandwich (grilled summer vegetable, roasted chicken with arugula, BLT or prosciutto), a choice of side salad (panzanella salad, roasted beet salad or farro salad with summer veggies), and Italian cookies to end on a sweet note. Call Allison Galese at 312-642-8450 to place picnic box orders. Orders must be placed by 12PM on Friday, July 24 and can be picked up on Saturday between 12-6PM.
Chicago's Venetian Night boat parade will take place at 8:15PM, with the city's grand fireworks display to follow. People start staking out their spots along the lakefront early in the morning, so make your plans (and pick up your picnic baskets!) early.
