Chicago foodies can now utilize technology to get the skinny on restaurant deals around town.

A new iPhone app called Foodie, offers exclusive access to unique menus, specials, underground dining and early openings.

It costs $1.99 to download the app and .99 cents to secure each individual special offer, but the first year's membership is free if you purchase the app by next Tuesday.

A glance at the Web site showed specials for 15 percent off brunch at Perennial, two free cocktails at Boka and a complimentary wine pairing at Spring

Thirty-five local restaurants are participating so far, include eateries such as Graham Elliot, Landmark and Spiaggia, The Gage and Big Jones.

There's a limited number of specials available at each restaurant at any one time, so you need to move quickly when you see a deal.
The app also shows which participating restaurants are available in your area, based on your location, and integrates with Facebook and Twitter.

Apps for Blackberry and Android phones are scheduled for next year, according to the developers.
