South Loop's Gioco Reopens This Week

Restaurant closed due to tax issues

South Loop Italian restaurant Gioco is back from the brink.

The restaurant, which is co-owned by Jerry Kleiner, closed suddenly a few weeks ago because it was behind state taxes and employee withholding payments, according to Crain's.

According to a release, the restaurant has been renovated to include a new antipasto bar, new furnishings and a new menu created by Executive Chef Danny Sweis.

The restaurant will be open for dinner immediately and weekday lunch service will resume in a couple of weeks.

Sunday brunch service is not expected until the fall.
