The Beginning of a Beautiful Fashion Friendship

Using Casablanca as its inspiration, Akira presents a stunning spring show

The timeless appeal of Casablanca -- both the city and the movie -- has fueled creative inspiration and intrigue for decades. Now, Casablanca will serve as the backdrop for a sultry spring fashion show presented by Chicago style-setting powerhouse Akira on Sunday, April 26. In a move worthy of Bogart himself, the blockbuster "Casablanca: Virtue. Love. Resistance" fashion event will take place in a "hidden" locale.

Adding a serious dash of drama to the proceedings, guests will arrive at the "secret" back-door entrance of 114 S. Racine St. to be whisked up a freight elevator and into a raw warehouse space transformed for the evening into an elegant, 1940s-themed atrium. Ford Models will showcase Akira's ready-to-wear spring collections in an adventurous runway show, including looks from event sponsor Steve Madden, 7 Diamonds, Paige Premium Denim, Ben Sherman, Bjorn Borg and Dorsia.

Hennessy Black will provide the evening's cocktails, while Chicago company Andrea's Catering will serve gourmet light bites throughout the A-list soiree. An after-party will take place from 8PM-12AM at the swanky Victor Hotel in the West Loop featuring more Hennessy Black and even more fashionistas.

Doors open at 5:30PM for "Casablanca: Virtue. Love. Resistance," and the fashion show begins at 6:30PM. Attendance and seating are limited; you must RSVP to events@akirachicago.com by Friday, April 24 at 12PM.
