The Garfield Park Conservatory is putting the final touches on its third annual Fleurotica show, a runway show combining fashion and flowers.

The March 25th show features dresses, hats and even menswear all made out of flowers and plants.

"The conservatory is one of the hidden gems of Chicago, and so many people don't know about it, so what better way to get people to come," event chair Perri Knight says.

Florists can spend months coming up with a design concept for the show, and this year they're going for a Southwestern theme.

But because of the relatively short life span for flowers, designers are literally sewing on the finishing touches minutes before the event starts.

Proceeds from the event help pay for the conservatory's educational programs.
