Director Ron Howard has come a long way from playing freckle-faced kids on television, mainly The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days. Over the weekend, the 46th Chicago International Film Festival honored the Oscar winner with the Silver Hugo Career Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding 50-year career in the film industry. Several cast members from Howards upcoming Universal Pictures comedy attended the festivals Annual Summer Gala on Saturday on June 12, 2010, in celebration: including Chicagos own Vince Vaughn, as well as Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly, and Winona Ryder. Other attendees included Howards longtime producing partner at Imagine Entertainment, Academy Award winner Brian Grazer, Paul Bettany (Connellys husband), professional ice skater and Dancing With the Stars contestant Evan Lysacek, and Chaz Hammelsmith Ebert, wife of film critic Roger Ebert. The event, held at the Museum of Science and Industry, was hosted by award-winning television journalist Bill Kurtis.
