Several blocks of State Street in the Loop were closed to vehicular traffic for five hours on Saturday for the first-ever "Open Streets on State Street" festival.

The Chicago Loop Alliance, in partnership with Active Transportation Alliance, transformed a seven-block stretch, from Lake to Van Buren, into an urban playground from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For a full list of activities, visit OpenStreetsonStateStreet.org.

There was no charge for the event and some Chicago Loop Alliance member businesses offered discounts.
