Chicago Beach Polo World Cup 2011
Moshpix: Around 2,500 hit North Avenue Beach over the weekend for the first-ever Chicago Beach Polo World Cup. Men's and women's teams competed in the tournament in the sport that originated seven years ago in Miami. It was as much a party as sporting event, with a custom-built beach arena about half the size of a football field constructed on the beach and bordered by a beachfront bar and grill. Chicago player Whitney Vogt received MVP and was on the winning women's Lufthansa team. The attendees that bundled up in less than ideal temperatures on Saturday will be happy to know that the event will return in September 2012, increasing the opportunity for better weather.
