Wicker and Lincoln Park Gear Up for Weekend Fests

Bands, food and shopping on tap for annual festivals

Chicago's enviable lineup of summer neighborhood festivals continues this weekend with two distinct flavors on the menu.

Wicker Park Fest and Taste of Lincoln Avenue are both scheduled for July 28-29.

Music is the main attraction at Wicker Park Fest, with local and national acts performing on three stages.

Keep an eye out for artistic exhibits and installations from the likes of Redmoon Theatre and the Defibrillator Gallery at the intersection of N. Milwaukee Avenue and N. Wood Street. Kid-friendly activities will also be available on both days.

Noon-10 p.m., Milwaukee Avenue from North to Paulina, $5 suggested donation.

Taste of Lincoln Avenue returns for its 29th year and as the name suggests, the emphasis in on food. Dozens of vendors will be on hand offering bites from neighborhood restaurants.

The music isn't too shabby either, with more than 40 acts on five stages.

A kids' carnival will also be available until 6 p.m. each day on Altgeld, featuring stage entertainment, inflatables, a petting zoo and more.

Pace yourself -- there's still several weeks of summer left.

Noon-10 p.m. both days, N. Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton and Wrightwood, $10 suggested donation.
