Wednesday is Where it's At

Hump Day events around the city

We're not sure what it is about Wednesday, but it's starting to look like one of the hottest days of the week for Chicago nightlife. And when you really think about it, it only makes sense. After three days of work, who doesn't need a respite?

Plus, everyone knows weekend clubbing is strictly amateur night, and these days you might as well lump Thursday into that mix, so Hump Day, we now officially crown you our go-to night of the week.

  • Wednesdays may also be the new date night, because there's restaurant deals all over the place. Le Colonial (937 N. Rush St.) has three course dinner for only $20 per person which includes a shared appetizer, two entrees and a shared dessert. Click here for more information.
  • At C-House in the Affinia Hotel every Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., diners can enjoy two customized seafood tacos and a beer for $9 -- or 121 pesos if you're counting.
  • Bin 36 is the place to be every last Wednesday of the month for the Wine Around Series. The tastings are held in the upstairs loft area, and each event has a different theme. On Feb. 25, you can experience Brian Duncan's own award-winning wines which were featured in Food & Wine and Wine Enthusiast magazines. Three new varietels will debut, including the signature 10th Anniversary Sparkling Cuvee.
  • Can you tell we like wine? The only thing better than a great glass of wine, is the perfect food pairing. If you've ever been to Quartino (626 N. State St.) then you already know that this spot has one of the best bar menus in town. But every last Wednesday of the month the restaurant has a wine tasting for only $20, where you can taste to your heart's content, as well as sample salumi (various meats, such as salami, prosciutto and bresaol), a wide variety of cheeses and olives. For only $20, you'll have enough coin left in your pocket to buy one of the extremely reasonably-priced bottles of wine on your way out the door.

So throw away Thursday. Forget Friday. Saturday, you're really starting to suck. We like Wednesday.
