CULTURE VULTURES: One of the most anticipated art shows of the year hits the 12th floor of the Merchandise Mart this weekend. Artropolis runs Friday through Sunday, showcasing contemporary art, emerging artists, antiques and performances from more than 85 cultural partners throughout the city. Be sure to check out the complimentary cocktails at two artsy after-parties on Friday, 7-10 pm at Creative Lounge (1564 North Damen Ave) and 10-12 p.m. at Debonair Social Club. NIGHTMARE ON THE RUNWAY: You might catch Freddy strutting down the catwalk in a fedora and stripped sweater as Heat Nightclub celebrates the newest addition to the Kreuger saga with a fashion show entitled A Nightmare on the Runway. Local IADT Schaumburg students Lynnette Colombo and Courtney Zingler will have featured designs that will keep you from falling asleep during this beautiful nightmare. 10 p.m., 616 E. Golf Rd

All proceeds go to ASLF’s Buy a Mom a Mammogram program, which provides no cost mammogram screenings for uninsured patients. Click here for tickets. 8-11 p.m., 1640 N. Damen Ave., $25-$30
