The Real Housewives of — Highland Park

Highland Park boutique holds contest for city's real housewives

It was only a matter of time.

First came the "Real Housewives of Orange County," then a host of similar shows popped up in New York, New Jersey and Atlanta. Locally, there's an effort to get a Chicago show off the ground.

And now, due to popular demand and an intense public outcry, it's time for the Real Housewives of -- hold your breath -- Highland Park.

OK, so it's not exactly a TV show, but SHE Boutique has been on the lookout for the realest of the real housewives in that suburban city. They've been compiling votes at the store for the past month, and on Saturday, the top five vote-getters will be honored at a red carpet event.

Instead of earning a 24/7 video invasion of their privacy, the winners get $200 SHE gift certificates, head to toe makeovers and a live photo shoot with a celebrity photographer.

The party, which will be held from 6-9 p.m., is open to the general public, who also get goodies just for showing up (RSVP suggested).

And you never know, perhaps an enterprising producer will appear and decide to cast the ladies on an actual show.

We're envisioning heated confrontations at the Country Kitchen, wild nights at Ravinia and intense marital strife when the bill arrives from Saks.

Now that's what you call the real deal.
