If you want to get an up-close and personal glimpse of some of your favorite local sports stars, head to the South Loop Wednesday night.

Former Chicago Bear Jerry Azumah and Chicago Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas are co-hosting "Athletes Across Borders," a reception, concert and raffle at The Shrine (2109 S. Wabash Ave.).

Other athletes expected to attend include the Bears Adewale Ogunleye, Israel Idonije and Bulls Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng and Jannero Pargo

Irish soul singer Laura Izibor headlines the event along with performances by funk band Spare Parts and acclaimed DJ Timbuck2.

Proceeds from the event benefit the co-host's respective foundations, which benefit at-risk youth.

The event is scheduled for 6 - 10 p.m. Tickets range from $25-$100, with the VIP level offering access to an exclusive meet and greet with the players.
