If the Beastie Boys were the big reason why you were looking forward to Lollapalooza this year, then you're out of luck. The band has canceled all concert dates and pushed back their album release after Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed last week with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland.

According to a video posted by Yauch on Beastieboys.com, the cancer was caught early and is considered treatable, but the surgery and recovery time means the singer will be out of commission for several weeks.

Lollapalooza officials said Monday that they were aware of the situation and would have a comment later in the day. The Beastie Boys were scheduled to perform on Saturday night. The group was also scheduled to perform at the Congress Theater on August 6, but that show will also be canceled.

"About two months ago I started feeling this little lump in my throat, like if you have swollen glands or a cold. I didn't really think of it as anything," Yauch said in his videotaped segment.

"The good news is that they did scans on my hold body and it's only localized in this one area and it's not in a place that affects my voice," Yauch said. "It's a bit of a setback and a pain in the a#$, but it's something that's very treatable."

Yauch also apologized to fans who had made plans to see any of their upcoming shows.
