Just when you think you've seen everything on the nightlife circuit, something else pops up to make you look twice.

Violinist Katarina Visnevska and DJ William Galvan aren't the first duo to blend classical strings with bass-heavy beats in a nightclub, but it's not exactly a regular occurence around town.

See for yourself what the buzz is all about every Wednesday at Double A, Mercadito's swanky basement lounge.

Galvan, a Chicago club veteran, and Visnevska, who's been playing since she was 6 years old, collaborate on tracks from artists ranging from the Notorious B.I.G. to Gotan Project.

"We don't do a lot of mainstream music right now," Galvan says. "We try to dig a little deeper and do something a little outside of the box. It's just interesting for people who are coming in to check it out."

The pair is also working on some original music to add to their repertoire.

Check it out Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. No cover.
