Lollapalooza Gets Muddy -- Again
Moshpix: There was an unexpect surprise in store for Lollapalooza festival-goers Saturday after the threat of thunderstorms prompted officials to vacate Grant Park and temporarily suspend the event. About 60,000 people were evacuated from Grant Park around 3:30 p.m. and spilled onto Michigan Avenue and area businesses in hopes of waiting out the storm. The skies finally cleared around 5:30 p.m. and the show went on, although some of the performers did not get a chance to appear on stage. And just like last year, portions of Grant Park turned into a mud bowl.
