Stunning Vivian Maier Photos Uncovered
A new appreciation is building quickly for Vivian Maier, who settled in the Chicago area in the early 1950s, worked as a nanny and took thousands of stunning photographs on Chicago's streets on her days off, along with additional photos during visits to New York, Canada and Florida. Maier, described as reclusive at best, died in 2009, but John Maloof discovered tens of thousands of her negatives at an auction. He's been developing the pictures ever since and plans are in the works for a book and documentary on Maier. Read more about the projects on Maloof's blog and check out the first-ever exhibition of Maier's work at the Chicago Cultural Center through April 3.
