The comedy pipeline between Chicago and New York continues to churn with two locally-based actors reportedly landing gigs on "Saturday Night Live."

The Chicago Tribune reports that Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer of iO Theatre will join the SNL cast for the show's 36th season. The news was also confirmed by iO founder Charna Halpern.

SNL producer Lorne Michaels was scouting Chicago talent with a team of writers in early August, the newspaper reported, and Brittain and Bayer were flown to New York for second auditions.

"It totally reinforces that Chicago is the place to be if you want to be in comedy," Halpern told the newspaper.

The Second City's Tom Flanigan and Shelly Gossman were also recently hired on SNL's writing staff.
