CTA Releases Holiday Train Schedule

21st annual CTA Holiday Train service runs through Dec. 22

Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane!
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
are pulling on the trains.

The 21st annual CTA Holiday Train continues its unique Chicago tradition featuring decorated El cars and appearances by Santa and his helpers.

The festive cars feature thousands of multi-colored lights inside and outside the train as well as holiday music and seasonal decor. Santa and his elves will ride in his sleigh on an open-air flatcar pulled by a six-car CTA train, passing out candy canes and season's greetings.

The train will travel on all CTA rail lines through December as part of regular rail service. CTA customers are welcomed to ride on the car at no extra cost.

In addition, each year the CTA personnel generously donate and assemble approximately 300 food baskets to be distributed to 30 local community organizations.

The train operates from about 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select weekdays.
