Babble On With the Art Institute

The Art Institute joins ArtBabble.org, an online resource for art-based videos

Offering a more high-brow take on YouTube, ArtBabble.org features art-based video content -- and lots of it. The site was created by the Indianapolis Museum of Art and launched in April. Now, the Art Institute joins such museums and organizations as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the New York Library and the Smithsonian American Art Museum to bring us sedentary types all the artistic info we can handle in one sitting.

Using cutting-edge technology and high-definition video, ArtBabble allows users to explore interviews with artists and curators, art installation footage and original documentaries. Interactive feedback and video sharing functions let you share your thoughts and feelings on the artwork featured.

Yesterday, the Art Institute debuted on ArtBabble.org with 12 videos highlighting behind-the-scenes coverage of the installation of such major works as Ellsworth Kelly's "White Curve," Charles Ray's "Hinoki" and Henri Matisse's "Bathers by a River" in the Modern Wing, along with an informative introduction to the new structure by Art Institute director James Cuno. You can also view featured lectures and readings by artists, scholars and poets.

Now you have one more way to waste time at work (especially if your employer has banned YouTube and Facebook). Chalk it up to research.
