Michigan Avenue Mag's A Shore Thing Party
Moshpix: Landlubbers were eager to cheer on their favorite sailing team Saturday at “Ashore Thing,” Michigan Avenue Magazine's official parade of boats viewing party for The Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac. Guests ate lunch and enjoyed cocktails as they watched the racing boats pass in front of Navy Pier to “check in” on their way out to the starting area. For 104 years since 1898, sailors have gathered in Chicago to begin the 333-mile sailing race to Mackinac Island, Michigan. “The Mac,” as the race is affectionately known, hosts about 350 boats with approximately 3,500 sailors.
