A Year of Riding the Pony

The Pony celebrates one-year anniversary

Needless to say, none of us remember our first birthday. But despite that, a North Side bar is throwing an unforgettable bash this weekend for its special day.

The Pony (1638 W. Belmont Ave.), a spot that's become a regular destination for the city's sports stars and other celebs, is celebrating one year in business with, what else, live music and plenty of booze.

Pony up to the bar on Friday for $5 Stoli cocktails and $4 Coronas, and bob your head to the beats of DJ Lee Michaels and Chicago rapper Napalm.

The vibe switches up on Saturday with '80s cover band Hairbanger's Ball taking the state at 9 p.m. So-Co lime shots and 16 oz. Silver Bullets will be on special for only $4 -- because that's what you probably drank in the '80s.

Sounds like things may get a little wild over there this weekend. Just be sure to arrange a designated rider.
