Where the Wild Lolla After-Party Things Are

Some of the weekend's hottest concerts won't be going down at Grant Park

Sure, Lollapalooza's a bang up good time, but the real scene's the after parties. And the after-atfer parties. Here's your guide to both.

First up, the official Lolla after-shows. Tickets to Thursday's Thievery Corporation show at House of Blues are still available -- shocking considering this band's popularity with both music critics and Zach Braff.

Other official tix avail: a DJ battle royale at the Congress Theater on Friday, Aug. 7 hosted by Dark Wave Disco and featuring star-on-the-rise Kid Cudi; devastatingly chic duo The Raveonettes at the Empty Bottle on Saturday, Aug. 8; and at the Logan Square Auditorium on Sunday, Aug. 9, the Atlanta foursome Deerhunter -- sit and spin, PETA .

And then there are the "unofficial" after-parties. Check out Debonair Social Club's impressive Lolla weekend lineup, which includes an Entertainment Weekly party on Thursday, Aug. 6 and a DJ showcase featuring Bjorn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn and John), Chris Tomsen (of Vampire Weekend), Yellofever and Jonboy on Friday, Aug. 7.

At Sonotheque, DJ A-Trak brings his magic-fingered shtick to the West Town lounge. A-Trak has toured with Kanye and he dated last year's Lollapalooza sensaysh Kid Sister, who's as popular as A-Trak is incestuous.

A-Trak's playing both at Perry's electronica stage on Friday, Aug. 7 and at Sonotheque later that same night.

The Lollapalooza parties at Angels and Kings (710 N. Clark) are tied in with the nightspot's one-year anniversary celebrations. Lolla-themed parties will be held Thursday through Sunday with the likes of DJ Mom Jeans (where isn't he playing this weekend?) and a performance by Wu-Tang's GZA along with with Samantha Ronson on Saturday. "Surprise guests" are expected, so don't be surprised to see Pete Wentz in the house.

Celeb-friendly The Underground is rolling with a Hornito's Lounge from 9-10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and they're featuring the likes of Jermaine Dupri and DJ Momjeans (Danny Masterson) on the wheels of steel. You can try your luck getting into the invite-only party, or check it out a bit later -- you never know who will show up.

For a more laid-back but still groovy setting, check out C-View, the outdoor rooftop terrace at the Affinia Chicago hotel. Along with a special menu, a Lollapalooza ticket or wristband gets you $10 specialty cocktails and $5 beers Friday through Sunday. A DJ will also spin on the rooftop on Friday and Saturday night.

Venus Zine magazine takes over the Chopin Theater (1545 W. Division) on Saturday night for an after-party featuring Ida Maria and Chairlift. RSVP to VIP@venusvine.com. Party starts at 9:30 p.m.
