8/1-2: Pups, Punks, Outdoor Films and New Plays

Pups suds up, punks rock out, an alfresco film rolls and new plays debut

SCRUB A PUP: Take your dirty pooch (hey, we're not judging) to the Anti-Cruelty Society's annual dog wash on the organization's River North rooftop. There will be prizes for the dirtiest, largest and smallest pups, plus pet behavior specialists on hand to answer questions. Sat. 10AM-2PM, $10-$25 (depending on your dog's size).

THAT IS WARPED: It's time once again for the Vans Warped Tour, featuring more punk bands than you can shake a stick at with names like Switchblade Killers, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and I Set My Friends on Fire. If you're still with us, the action's going down at the First Midwest Bank Ampitheatre in Tinley Park. Sat. 12PM, $34-$40.

ROLL 'EM: Watch Chicago-themed films under the stars at the Terrace at the Conrad Chicago hotel. Tonight's feature is the John Cusak classic "High Fidelity," and food and drink specials are yours for the taking. Sure beats a drive-in. Sun. 7:30PM, no cover.

FRESH FACES: Catch developmental productions of three new plays during the fifth-annual "First Look Repertory of New Work" performances at Steppenwolf. The works include "Ski Dubai" by Laura Jacqmin, "Honest" by Eric Simonson and "Sex with Strangers" by Laura Eason. Sat. and Sun. 1PM, 4:30PM, 8PM, $20-$45 for three-play pass.
