Governor Quinn, Jesse White join AT&T pledge against texting and driving.
Pat Quinn is urging Illinois drivers to keep their eyes on the road and not on their phones.
The Illinois governor joined Secretary of State Jesse White Wednesday at a news conference urging drivers to take the pledge to never text and drive again.
It's part of an AT&T initiative discouraging texting and driving, a campaign that includes a public service announcement starring Derrick Rose.
"There's a saying in scripture that if you save one life, you save the whole world, and it's so important that we get the word out that texting while driving is a dangerous activity," Quinn said.
Quinn previously declared September "Texting and Driving Awareness Month" and signed the statewide ban in 2009.
More than 2,600 people have been convicted of texting while driving since the ban went into effect.
