April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month

Walking around downtown Chicago at various times of the year, it's not unusual to see buildings lighted in a seemingly unified color. But sometimes the meaning isn't obvious.
(However, if you see the John Hancock Building decked out in Red, White and Blue on July 4th, we hope you can figure it out.)
On Tuesday night, iconic buildings and landmarks across the country will be decked out in orange, the signature color of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
According to the ASPCA, April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.
From its beginnings three years ago as a small grassroots adoption event in New York City, the "Go Orange for Animals" campaign has grown into a nationwide celebration of the human animal bond and the organization’s victories on behalf of animals.
In Chicago, the Wrigley and One South Dearborn Buildings have both signed on to help raise awareness for prevention of cruelty to animals month by "going orange."
A special "Go Orange for Animals" Web site has information on how you can get involved. An ASPCA Facebook group is 120,000+ members strong.
