INSTANT GRATIFICATION: See Polaroid pictures taken by infamous photographer Robert Mapplethorpe at the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art on Northwestern University's Evanston Campus. "Polaroids: Mapplethorpe," which opens today, features photos taken between 1970 and 1975. 10AM-5PM, free.

TUESDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Honor the nation's top high school, college and pro linebackers with Chicago Bears legend Dick Butkus as he hands out "The Butkus Awards" tonight. Attend the awards ceremony and after-party (6:30PM, $250), or get there early for a V.l.P. reception with Dick and his son Matt Butkus (5:30PM, $400). The event takes place at the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in Little Italy.

FRANCOPHILES: Head to Bucktown's Cafe Matou for a Normandy-themed dinner from chef Charlie Socher. The five-course dinner, with such dishes as baked mussels, pot-roasted beef and rum-butter cake, will be paired with French wines, bien sur. 7PM, $61 per person.
