Chicago 'Idols' Seek Road to Fame

Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and David Cook have nothing on the talent that Chicago has to offer!

On American Idol, one of Simon Cowell favorite lines is "Did you really believe you could become the American Idol? Well, then, you're deaf." Whether they can sing or they sound likes nails on a chalk board, "talent" shows never fail to entertain.

Well, you don't need to wait for next season of American Idol to get in on the fun. Head over to Mahoney’s Pub & Grille (551 North Ogden Avenue) to witness and vote for your favorite contestant in the "Road to Fame" contest.

"Road to Fame" is an open call for Chicagoland's best singers every Wednesday through December 10th.

Contestants sing a cappella for a panel of quick-witted judges including Michigan Avenue Magazine executive editor Susanna Homan, Elvis impersonator Mark "Elvis" Hussman and Bobby Kourelis, drummer for the alternative rock band Lovehammers.

"There's nothing like a Chicago audience," Hussman said. "The crowd here is great."

The competition is fierce as all contestants are gunning for a cash prize and a trip to L.A. to perform for VIP guests at the popular Rush Street night club .

This contest is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
