Broadway Gives Regards to Taste

Broadway in Chicago hosts a variety show of musical performances

Satiate your cravings at the Taste this year – and we mean all your cravings, including those for belted-out songs and choreographed dance numbers.

At 6 p.m. tonight, Broadway In Chicago Concert in the Park will present a free, 90-minute concert performance.  Acts feature performers from the casts of Jersey Boys, Mary Poppins, In the Heights, Young Frankenstein, 101 Dalmatians and Girls vs. Boys.

Hosted at the Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park, viewers will see a selected song or sneak peak tune from each of the featured shows.

Chicago’s own Four Seasons and the full cast of Jersey Boys will be at tonight’s performance.

Broadway stars not enough to convince you? Sneak a peak at 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist in Soccer Carli Lloyd, who will appear at the event to promote Chicago’s 2016 Olympic bid.

We know the pandemonium that Broadway-related productions have caused. In an outlet notorious for such drama, who could resist?

The Show Didn't Go On

And for folks who tried to see Mary Poppins on Saturday night, the Grant Park performance may be especially appealing.

A technical glitch left ticketholders for Saturday night's performance of the popular nanny musical out of luck.

The audience was sent home when the computer system that drives the production at the Cadillac Palace Theatre shutdown.

The glitch occurred early in the first act, and after about a half hour of troubleshooting the restive audience was given the bad news.

Ticketholders for that show can arrange an exchange at the point of purchase, but they must act quickly (by Thursday), as the show closes July 12 and greatest availability for replacement tickets is for the July 4 weekend.

Those unable to exchange tickets for an alternate date will be given refunds.
