Barack Obama may be partly responsible for a new overall interest in the city of Chicago.  The city's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games has also put it in the spotlight.

No longer viewed as just the country's fattest city or the town with the highest murder rate, Chicago is becoming an international destination.

Now, a recent nod from GQ magazine may put the Windy CIty over the top where sophistication, chic and class are concerned.

The magazine named Chicago "City of the Year," citing literature, film, architecture and politics. The blog spot doesn't directly mention the president-elect, but praises Chicago's transformation into Gotham City as one of the notable accomplishments Sinatra's "kinda town' offered the selection process this year.
