The James likes to bring the outdoors in.
Want to give back to the city while experiencing its many parks and neighborhoods? The James Chicago, the sleek River North hotel, has announced a new partnership with Chicago's Parkways Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Chicago Park District. This inspired teaming up has resulted in the hotel's new "Peace, Love and Room Service" package.
The socially concious hotel property's new offer features accommodations in one of The James' residential-style guestrooms, along with a custom-designed nightshirt and $50 toward a room service order during your stay (covering all of the bases spelled out in the "Peace, Love and Room Service" promise). Rates for this package begin at $274 per night, and The James' will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from each "Peace, Love and Room Service" reservation to the Parkways Foundation.
Once you actually leave your room, you'll have options to visit the city's many parks and outdoor areas through Parkways. Experience the natural beauty and alfresco art of Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain; take a complimentary self-guided MP3 audio tour of the Humboldt Park neighborhood; visit Lincoln Park on foot, including stops at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, North Pond restaurant and the lily pool with a volunteer docent; view a complimentary outdoor film during the Parkways' "Movies in the Park" series; or check out the lush Garfield Park Conservatory. You'll see just where your dollars are going, and, then, there's always that comfy nightshirt to come home to.
