There was some fancy footwork going on downtown over the weekend as nearly 100 Chicago Public School students competed as finalists in the 4th Annual "Having a Ball" dance competition.

In the final round of the competition, the light-footed fifth-graders strutted their stuff for a panel of professional dance judges in the Loop Sunday night.

Before tripping the light fantastic for the judges, the students went through 20 weeks of intensive dance instruction in preparation for the big event.

The kids were likely inspired by a resurgence in dance sparked by popular TV dance shows.
